Hello friends.

This week we had the pleasure of receiving direct transmission from Merta Ada at his evening talk in London and, for those fortunate enough, on the weekend in Midhurst.

I would like to extend my love to him and all his beautiful family and thank him for making this very long and exhausting trip for our benefit.

I would also like send love and gratitude to Burgs and everyone associated for making this all possible.

I have made a bit of a discovery in relation to what Merta Ada talked about this week that i would like to share.

I found that when i am in the Mental body also known as the Subtle sense base of the body my meditation becomes calm and abiding. This, then, becomes a great platform for increased concertration. The key to this, for me, is "Subtle".

Burgs gives an excellent guided meditation to develop mindfullness of the body, part by part which also covers the Mental/sense base body.

http://theartofmeditation.org/.....ings/audio

Scroll down to :

Mindfulness of the body - Guided meditation: A guided meditation by Burgs to develop mindfulness of the body part by part either as a Samatha or Vipassana practice.

Enjoy!

Hia,

I was meditating last night 8.00pm - 9pm ish, and a warmth was washing over me...Was really nice. As i take note of my whole body on the relaxed in-breath, and on the relaxed out-breath i imagine every fiber of my being and tension releasing; the heaviness of my karmic tension is being dissolved(i think, anyway)>>Pain goes and i am feeling a deep peace, respect and love.

Then, about an hour later, after my meditation, suddenly a cold fuzzy feeling came over me, and i felt scared. (I think maybe something was entering into me -??) > immedietely feeling that a spirit force is there, I just repeated 'love' and 'divine' out loud. Instead of resisting it, i allowed it to wash through me, and then it seemed to subside. (I dont think this was my imagination- its happened before also - perhaps it is within??>but i dont think so)

Can anyone shed some light on this? >>Perhaps i am meditating too much?

Thankyou

I have always had very visceral dreams and as I meditate they are begininng to also become more lucid.

One thing that has started to happen recently is that my dream recall ability has increased and also I have start to get regular dream flashbacks. So during the day dreams pop in to my head while I am just doing day to day tasks from what seems out of nowhere, some of the flashbacks are from dreams I may have had months or even years ago and usually the feelings that I experienced during the dreams often appear as well, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Also I wanted to pose the question "does karma fruit during dreams?"....

Hello Richard.

There is a very good audio clip on this site from Burgs about Metta Bhavana - Practice/cultivation of loving kindness. Follow the link http://theartofmeditation.org/.....ings/audio and scroll down to Loving Kindness - Guided meditation:

There is also a good written section about metta on wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mett%C4%81

Hope these are of good use.

As for my own practise the best result i have felt with metta in mind has been from service to others. ie Helping someone with no interest of reward for myself, then reflecting on that act in my metta meditation.

Wishing: In gladness and in safety,

May you be happy.

Hello,

Can anybody enlighten me on the general process of metta meditation? As far as I can recall from a distant retreat, you can start by seeing yourself in theheart as happy as can be and to spread the 'loving-kindness' (happiness?) throughout your being. Then you can send loving kindenss to a relative (alive or passed away), then a stranger who may have helped you, and then to somebody who you struggle loving, or who has irked you.

I have heard a very short meditation (3 mins) from Burgs where the loving kindness is just to ourselves. But how do people generally practice it? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Btw... a great resource on the sutta's around loving kindness / metta is http://www.accesstoinsight.org......html#prac .

With Metta,

Richard
