The Art of Dreaming

20th – 24th June Summer Solstice Dream Yoga Special Book Now

“One of the most fascinating and enjoyable retreats that I have ever attended. I lucid dreamt, went on expeditions and adventures within the dreams to explore my being: from its most physical and personal dimension to its higher aspect: I was training as a psychotherapist and doing 3 day a week Jungian and Transpersonal analysis for a year leading up to this retreat, and it completely re-wrote the rule book in terms of understanding the vast potential of the dream world for self discovery and communicating with it.” -attendee from the last Dreaming Retreat

This retreat requires no previous experience of dream yoga. Participants are assumed to be all beginners and will be guided throughout the retreat as necessary. However, all attendee’s are expected to have been on at least one Usada Beginners Meditation retreat with Burgs.

The retreat will focus on the opening of the subtle energy systems, gates and pathways in the body with a view to deepening our access to higher states of consciousness both in sleep and waking . We also investigate the practice of Dream Yoga and the insight that dreams can give to the workings of our subconscious mind. This is a wonderful retreat, both deeply revealing and fun. An adjunct practice that will deepen your understanding of meditation and the mind as a whole

The first aspect of dream yoga is to bring more awareness into our dreams. Following this we will learn to consciously enter sleep and guide the subtle energies of our body in ways that bring specific healing responses and allow journeying through different aspects of our being. The final goal is to remain conscious during sleep so that we might in time come to recognize the pure state of clear consciousness that the mind rests in whilst sleeping. This is a very profound practice which gives us direct access to the highest of meditative states.

Different aspects of the mind reveal themselves at different stages of the night, and we will be keeping dream journals and waking regularly to recall our dreams and enter directly into meditation from them. We will take rest in the day to sleep and continue this process.

Our meditation practice will revolve around our nightly dream activities as well as our waking consciousness.

The hidden aspects of our psyche reveal themselves more freely in the unhindered state of dreaming when we are freed of our self-consciousness and the bounds of temporal and spatial reality. Whilst this can be unsettling at times it affords us tremendous insight into what may lie hidden and unexpressed within us, giving an opportunity to process things which we may not consciously choose to, and yet impact on our experience daily. This will be done in group sessions and with dream interpretation which can be very healing for the group as well as individuals. You do not have to share anything that you are not comfortable with.

In the past those who have attended have found this to be a highly rewarding and fun retreat with a tremendous group camaraderie as we work together to unravel the hidden insight revealing itself to us in our dreams.
