Other Wheel of Merit Projects
Dear Friends,
The Wheel of Merit is a continuing project in which we are encouraging all involved with our organization and any members of the general public to engage in activities of service.
Below are some of the ideas that were put forward in a recent weekend meeting of our Bodhisattva Warrior Programme.
They are already being implemented, but if anyone would like to suggest others or get involved please contact us at wheelofmerit@theartofmeditation.org, or get involved in our online forum chats at:

Ideas and projects from our last meeting
1. Help for Charity’s website that is being set up as a skills sharing resource – with emphasis on sharing sustainability skills within the UK.
2. A request for any artists to contribute works to The Special Yoga Centre Auction. (a center that works with handicapped kids)
3. A mobile soup kitchen that would be involved with the distribution of collected food or the preparation of a meal for homeless. It might also be used to engage the homeless to help themselves – organizing and running the kitchen themselves.
4. Ottos film and presentation to encourage the giving up of meat eating as a way of making a considerable impact on global warming and raising the consciousness of the planet. Otto needs help with the passing on of flyers and the presentation he is finishing.
5. Judith has proposed harnessing the groups meditation efforts to focus on the energetic healing of the worlds water supplies. Perhaps a time and day in the month when we all focused our meditation on this?
6. The idea of a website or maybe at first a part of our web site, that could somehow match charitable needs at a local and national level to those people or organizations that had the resources to meet those needs. An Ebay for Merit - Mbay! This may include ideas such as gathering up old gardening tools and musical instruments for redistribution as well as such activities as clearing a sports field for kids to play or painting a school or help for someone vulnerable.
7. An organized response to provide all year round teaching of English in the Burma orphanage.
8. Discussion needed for how we might raise resources for a lay teaching centre in UK
9. A desire to finance the food and needs of the Sangha in Burma and here in the UK.
10. Any connections to Schools so that Burgs could give motivational talks on alternative ways school leavers might engage with life.
