Thankyou all so much for helping raise just over £20,000 for our three causes.

Help us
raise money in aid of the homeless in the UK, supporting orphans in Burma and to provide medicine for school children in Kenya living with HIV, and join us for the 24hr meditation session.

A Thankyou message from Burgs:

Dear Friends,

We have now completed this year’s Tri-Mettathon. It feels like it has been a resounding success and to date we have raised over £20,000 which is a great effort.

I think it is fair to say that everyone who took part found it to be a moving and enriching experience. So well done to everyone for your efforts! And a huge thank you to all of you who have supported us so generously. I will be flying to Burma on 17th June to deliver by hand the money we have raised for the orphanages there. I will then fly on to Bali and spend two weeks with Merta Ada before dispatching the first lot of medicines to Kenya.

I am hoping a few members of the BWP will deliver the balance of the funds raised to Shelter and Crisis by hand. Very wonderful.

I was delighted that Merta Ada chose to support us from Bali with his students, and many others also tuned in from afar to our 24 hour Metta session. Merta ada congratulates us all on our “Anumodana”. It is a word the Buddha used to describe the highest form of merit; namely that which brings the highest of benefit to the most people as a direct result of the effort put forth. So Sadu Sadu Sadu to you all for that.

The whole experience has opened new doors of possibility for many of us. In particular a desire to carry forth our efforts in an ongoing way. Some have expressed a wish to continue the experience of homelessness and try to live as closely to the way the wandering ascetics did in the time of the Buddha. Others have expressed a wish to do the 24 hour metta session on a more regular basis.

So we are going to keep the Tri-Mettathon going as a continuing gesture of goodwill and compassion.

The next goal is to accumulate 500 days of homelessness and 1000 hours of Metta as a group effort.

We will be amending the website to give people the opportunity to register their own individual or group efforts in support of our three causes. I will organise another 24 hour metta session some time in the near future. We have decided to support both of these aspirations and will be posting more details along these lines in the future.

Thankyou once again for all your support.
With love to you all

Burgs
