Introduction to the Potential of Healing Meditation

The Course Syllabus

INTRO MEDITATION & QUESTIONNAIRE

OPENING WEEKEND ONLINE RETREAT

In this first weekend, Burgs will lay the foundations for the healing work ahead, introducing both the direct and systematic approaches to healing through meditation. Over the course of the weekend we will aim to switch on the body’s natural healing response, while also introducing the theoretical framework behind the healing process and establishing the toolkit that we will use throughout the course.

WEEK 1

Next we will revisit and consolidate the key themes covered during the opening weekend, such as Direct Perception, Wise Attention and how Dependent Origination relates to healing meditation. This week will also allow time for integration following the opening immersive weekend.

WEEKS 2 & 3

Following this, Burgs will introduce the vital role that our breath plays in determining our well-being and health. We will start by exploring the information contained within our natural, uncontrolled breath and what this can tell us about our habitual states of mind. This will be followed by a detailed meditative exploration of the Respiratory System, including guidance on the mechanics of proper full breathing.

WEEKS 4 & 5

Next Burgs will focus on the Digestive System, another vital system that has a huge impact on our sense of physical and energetic well-being. We will further develop our awareness in both the physical and energetic bodies and the chakra system in order to bring about harmonious functioning of these key structures.

WEEK 6

Stalking the Saboteur. In this challenging but deeply rewarding exercise, Burgs will guide you through a meditative reflection on where you may be holding onto limiting beliefs that can block your access to healing, aiming to bring about a paradigm shift towards self-empowerment and healing.

WEEK 7

Next Burgs will introduce the vital role played by the Autonomic Nervous System and the importance of establishing the body in a parasympathetic state. We will examine the Nerve Tone and aim to bring about a sense of harmonious calm within the Nervous System as a whole. Burgs will explore in detail how the feedback loop of mental activity and the charge carried by the nervous system can impact our health and sense of inner well-being.

WEEK 8

Burgs will then move on to focus on the Endocrine System, outlining its relationship to the Autonomic Nervous System and the crucial role it plays in the harmonious functioning of our physical system as a whole.

WEEK 9

In the final week Burgs will review the Chakra System in greater detail, allowing the momentum of the work done so far to facilitate a deeper exploration of this vital energetic system, with the intention of bringing about deep healing by establishing the chakras in a state of harmonious balance.

FINAL WEEKEND ONLINE RETREAT

The final weekend will be the culmination of our journey into healing meditation, allowing for an intensive immersion into the healing field with the aim of turning on the body’s natural healing response and bringing about a quantum healing process.

art of self-healing - healing meditation with burgs

Our state of health is so fundamental to the quality of our life experience.

Far more powerful than learning in depth all the various ways our body manages to become incapacitated or impaired and how we might manage such challenges, is to come to understand and ultimately access the immense capacity for quantum healing that is already encoded into our very being.

Why would you join this course now?

Since the beginning of his teaching career almost 30 years ago, Burgs has framed the Dharma that he shares around the axis of healing. The initial 7day in-person retreats which he hosted monthly up until 2020 was the core foundation practice which he offered.

Many thousands of students have learned this ‘Healing Dharma’ over the years, and now, drawing on this archive of material, some of these key elements form the foundation to this online programme.

Burgs has extensive experience in being able to guide students to a place of acceptance and love in such a skilled and gentle way. For any interested in transformational meditation practice in general, and those seeking more insight into the nature of the challenges they may be facing, this course can help start you on this journey of discovery.

Open to anyone that wants to learn about the healing potential of meditation.

This course is a curated programme that will be hosted through our online platform. Using material from previous retreats, whilst adding extra content to provide a deep healing journey, Burgs will guide you through the healing potential of meditation as he has learned from his teachers over the years.

The course will start with an intensive weekend retreat, which will be broadcast on the Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March.
Following this, there will be a series of lessons released every Saturday.
And to finish, we have a final intensive weekend retreat again broadcast on the Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June.

All the material for this course will be left available for students to use for 1 month after we finish the course. That will provide you time to catch up and/or review the teachings as needed.

How does it work?

  • Hosted on our dedicated online course website

  • Notification emails will be sent whenever a new lesson is published on the course page. (This will be sent to the registered email address on the course website).

  • All material will be added to the course page. So please log in to access the material. This will be presented as a mixture of video, audio and written material.

  • Meditations that will be used during the course will be downloadable to use offline.

  • The weekend intensive retreats will be broadcast live through youtube, enabling you to ask questions via the live chat.

  • We will be starting the course on the weekend of 28th / 29th March.

  • The course starts with an intensive weekend retreat hosted online. Private Youtube links will be shared via email and also added to the course page. We encourage everyone to follow this weekend in real time.

  • After this initial weekend, there will be a series of weekly lessons published on the course page. They will be published everySaturday morning. These can be followed at your own pace.

  • To finish the course, we will end with another intensive weekend. Private Youtube links will be shared via email and also added to the course page. We encourage everyone to follow this weekend in real time.

  • All material for the course will be left available for one month after we finish. Lessons will be available until the first week in July.

Course Pricing

  • This course is offered with an initial registration fee, and then a donation at the end of the course.

  • Registration fee is £100

  • A suggested donation at the end is £200.

  • It feels more appropriate to continue to offer this work in this way rather than charge a fixed fee for it, as it allows everyone to participate regardless of their means. So please feel free to give donation in accordance with that and whatever value you feel you have gained from the teachings.

I can't join on the exact dates. Can I still join?

  • The course material will be left available for you to use for the duration of the course, and also for 1 month afterwards.

  • This gives anyone who needs time to catch up, or review any of the teachings, including the weekend intensives, time to do so.

  • All broadcast times for the intensive weekends are in the UK timezone. Those outside of this timezone can choose to follow in their own timezone if they wish, especially if you are in North America, Asia or Australia.

  • The weekly lessons are not ‘broadcast’. They are a series of self-paced lessons which will be published every saturday. You can follow these at any time during the week.

How much should I practice?

  • We recommend practising at least once a day, 3-4 times during the week if you can. This helps steer you towards an immersive healing experience. Daily life however can get in the way, so do what you feel is best for you, according to your daily rhythm.

  • It is highly recommended to follow the intensive weekends as they are broadcast.

  • It is recommended to download the guided meditations from the weekly lessons to practice with offline.

  • It is suggested that a journal may be useful during this course. More on this once we start.

Is this course for me?

  • Designed for total beginners with no experience, as well as for those who have some meditation experience already.

  • Posture - If you are unable to sit on the floor, then it is equally useful to sit in a chair. Lying down can also be an option, but note that your meditation practice will have limited effect lying down. The key aspect here is to have the spine sitting straight up where possible.

  • You can use either a laptop, tablet or mobile to follow this course. It is recommended to use speakers rather than headphones to listen to the material.

  • The next two modules, Breath work, and Movement, will be published later this year. This will be a follow on from this initial offering of the healing meditation practice.
